If you ever wanted to learn how traditional wooden boat building or yacht building is going to happen – follow and donate (?) the Tally Ho Project of English Boat Builder Leo Sampson Goolden.

This Guy is aiming to restore a 107 years old Gaff Cutter – drawn by Albert Strange in 1909 – back into sailing and racing (?) conditions.

I allowed myself to link the picture below from his website into mine…

What I really like is the fact, that you can follow the restoration on video showing a great mixture of new and old techniques in wooded boat building. Great video footage, very good explanations of what and how to do things, struggles and personal insights, great ideas to overcome obstacles and challenges is not only entertaining but truly educational. The absence of any noisy product placement (there are a few) and eye catching action is the cherry on top of the cream.

Being a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer I simple love this project and videos – here you can learn how to set up a lofting floor by your own and how to use it. I stepped on the last one some 30 years ago… Beside building seakayaks for my family not much left to compare with this project.

I never lost my heart to an old Yacht (maybe I should be thankful) and left the yards to follow my love to Switzerland I strongly recommend checking out this project if you are a wooden boat lover!
